We hope your summer is full of fun, love, and laughter. We also have a few tips to help you keep your
smiles healthy while all this play is going on.
Protect Your Lips from the Sun – Lips have thin skin and are
vulnerable to cancer causing rays from the sun.
The American Board of Dermatology recommends you use lip balm or
lipstick with an SPF 30 or higher to keep them healthy.
Beware Chlorine in Pools and Water Parks – Chlorinated water
is highly acidic and can contribute to tooth enamel erosion. Rinsing your mouth with fresh water after
swimming can limit the damage to your teeth.
It is also recommended that you wait at least an hour after being in the
pool to brush your teeth, and then do so gently.
Limit Acidic Drinks – Some of your favorite refreshing
drinks can also be dangerous for tooth enamel.
Lemonade, sodas, and sports drinks are highly acidic. We encourage you
to limit your exposure to them and rinse your teeth after you have indulged.
Catch Up on Dental Appointments - You will probably have
time off during the summer months and kids will be out of school. This is a great time to get your family’s
dental care up to date without having to miss school or work. Call early to be sure that you get
appointment times that will work perfectly around your summer fun.
Have a great summer!
