How to Get the Most Out of Your Yearly Dental Benefits

Taking care of your oral health is a wise investment because dental problems not attended to usually get worse and become more complex and expensive.  We encourage all of our patients to stay on top of their dental needs to the best of their ability and then focus on preventing problems in the future.

Many of our patients use dental insurance and flex plan benefits to help them stay current with their dental care.

Most insurance and flex plans have yearly allotments for how much they will pay.  Insurance companies call these the yearly maximums.  Generally, if you do not use your maximum for a given year the money that was available to you is gone forever.  For this reason, it is important to take stock of your dental recommendations and available insurance as we reach the last quarter of the year.  This is especially important if you have existing treatment recommendations or are prone to dental problems.

Reasons to optimize your benefits by using the maximum each year include:
  • Not letting the benefits you pay for go to waste
  • Preventing the risk of multiple emergencies in one year that go over the maximum, by not letting dental needs pile up
  • Saving money on complex cases by starting them one year and finishing them in January, resulting in 2 years of benefits for the treatment
  • Having more insurance available the following year for unexpected needs or emergencies
  • Feeling like you have received the most benefit from what you pay for insurance
  • Knowing you are on top of your dental care

If you are already a patient of ours, we encourage you to give us a call so that we can create a strategy that will get you the best dental health while maximizing the benefits available to you.

If you do not have a dentist and are in the Rocklin, CA area, we would love to support you, as well.
